Arsenal’s hopes of signing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette were dented after Lyon rejected a bid from the club. The Gunners were hoping to sign the striker for a fee believed to be in the region of £40m but Lyon are now holding out for a figure close to £57m.
Lacazette saw a potential move to Atletico Madrid fall apart due to a transfer ban imposed on the Spanish club which prevents them from signing players for a period of six months. This made Arsenal favorites to sign the French player.
Should Arsenal succeed in signing Lacazette, Oliver Giroud would most likely leave the club as he would definitely not get enough game time, an issue that he brought up last season. West Ham are ready to pay £20m for Giroud and offer him wages of around £120,000 a week.
