Chile advanced to the Confederations Cup final after beating Euro champions Portugal 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out following a barren draw after 120 minutes. The Copa America champions have their goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to thank after he saved three spot kicks from their opponents.
Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani all struck poor penalties for Portugal as Arturo Vidal, Charles Aranguiz and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez did the complete opposite to see La Roja through to the final. Chile however, feel they were denied a chance of settling the game earlier after Jose Fonte fouled Francisco Silva inside the penalty area. Moments later, Vidal and Martin Rodriguez both hit the woodwork for La Roja to add to their frustrations.
Chile will know their fellow finalists tonight as Germany square off against Mexico. The final will take place on Sunday in St. Petersburg.
