PSG have officially signed Brazilian star Neymar Jr for a world record £198m fee from Barcelona. According to the Press Association, the move to the former Ligue 1 champions will see Neymar earn a weekly wage of £537,000 after tax which amounts to close to £28m annually.

Earlier on Thursday, doubts had been cast on the transfer after La Liga declined the payment from PSG to trigger the clause which forced Neymar’s legal team to fly directly to Barcelona to make the payment directly to the club and a few hours later Barca confirmed that they had terminated the player’s contract.

The transfer beats the previous record set by the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United for £89m last year.

PSG are expected to present the 25 year old on Friday and reports have it that he could feature in their league opener versus Amiens on Saturday. He will wear the no. 10 jersey, previously used by Javier Pastore who will switch to the no. 27 jersey.
